Setting Up a Samsung Tizen Television for a Guide You Can Use

Installation, then the guide

1. Choose the player by what you want from the evening

   This decision shapes everything after it. If you want to browse tonight's listings in a guide and rewind programs you missed, choose IPTV Smarters and sign in with the Xtream login: it fetches the channel list, the listings, catch-up and the film and series library on its own, and it costs nothing. If the set is one of the older ones and every app on it feels slow, Smart IPTV is the lighter option. It has no login screen; your M3U link is sent to the television's MAC address from another device. The first week costs nothing; after that the app asks a one-time activation fee per television, which goes to its developer, not to us. Neither choice changes the subscription itself, so you can switch later without asking anyone.

2. Check the set and the Samsung account

   Both players need a set from model year 2016 or newer. Before searching, make sure the television is signed in to your Samsung account, because the store installs nothing without one. Not sure how old the set is? The support section of the settings menu lists the model details. Or simply search for the app: a set too old to run it will not list it.

3. Install the player from Apps

   Press Home, go to Apps, and use the magnifying glass near the top corner of that screen. Type IPTV Smarters or Smart IPTV and install the one you chose, then launch it a first time so it can finish its own setup. If you picked Smart IPTV, its first screen shows the television's MAC address. Write it down or photograph it now, because the next step happens on a different device and the MAC has to be copied exactly.

4. Smarters: enter the Xtream login

   Choose Login with Xtream Codes, then fill in the three values WhatsApp brought you: the server URL with http:// in front and its port after the colon, the username and the password. Capitals matter in the last two. The profile name is yours to choose. Typing with arrow keys on an on-screen keyboard is slow, so check each field once before confirming rather than retyping everything after a failed attempt.

5. Smart IPTV: send the playlist to the television

   On a phone or laptop, open siptv.app/mylist. Enter the MAC address exactly as the television showed it, colons included. Put your M3U link in the URL box, tick the Keep online option and press Send. The link is the long address in your activation message that begins with http://, contains get.php and carries your username and password, so treat it like a password: anyone who has it has your subscription. Smart IPTV keeps one playlist per television, and sending a new link replaces the old one.

6. Restart the app properly

   Close the player completely and open it again. Going back to the home screen and returning is not enough, because the app can stay running behind it. If you are unsure whether it really closed, unplug the television for a minute. On reopening, the player loads the channel list first and the guide after it. Leave it alone for a few minutes on the first run; on an older set the guide is the slow part, and pressing buttons while it loads does nothing to hurry it.

7. Keep the channels you watch within reach

   With 25,000+ channels behind one remote, the list has to shrink. Add the channels you actually watch to favorites, 30 to 40 of them, and use that group as your starting point every evening. On remotes that have one, the channel list button moves through the groups faster than scrolling. The newer slim remotes have far fewer buttons, which is one more reason to build the favorites group first: it turns long scrolls into a few presses.

8. Test tonight's guide and a catch-up program

   Open the guide at the current hour. The program in the 9 pm slot on a channel you know should be what is actually on at 9; if the whole grid is an hour off, the television's clock is the first suspect. Scroll ahead to late evening and check the listings are there rather than blank. Then, in Smarters, open a channel carrying the archive or clock icon, go back to a program that finished earlier and play it from its start. If you chose Smart IPTV and catch-up matters to you, this is the test that tells you whether to move to Smarters.

Smart IPTV plays channels but the guide stays empty

Give it a few minutes after the first restart, then close and reopen the app once more, because the listings arrive after the channel list. If the guide is still bare, the dependable route on this television is IPTV Smarters with the Xtream login, which fetches the guide by itself along with catch-up. You can keep Smart IPTV installed for quick flicking if you like its speed; one login can sit in both.

The television shows listings an hour behind

The player turns guide times into local time using the television's clock, so check that first. Open the clock settings in the general section of the TV's menu and look at the time zone and the daylight saving option. A clock set by hand will not move when the clocks change, which is why this problem tends to appear twice a year. Once the set shows the right time, restart the player and the grid lines up.

Smarters takes minutes to open on an older set

The first load on one of the earliest supported sets is slow because the guide for 25,000+ channels is large for a television's processor. Let one full load finish without touching the remote, then keep your evenings inside the favorites group, which is quicker to draw than the whole list. If every visit is still slow, Smart IPTV is lighter, and plugging a Fire TV Stick into a free HDMI input is the other way out.

Smart IPTV still shows the upload screen after Send

Restart the app first; it only reads the playlist when it opens. If the upload screen comes back, the MAC address on the website did not match the television. Compare them character by character, including the colons, since one wrong character addresses the playlist to some other, nonexistent television. Then send the link again. Only one playlist is held per television, so the new upload replaces anything sent before.

Neither player turns up in the store

What Samsung's store lists depends on the country. When one player is missing the other is usually there, and IPTV Smarters is listed in most countries' stores. If you find neither, message us on WhatsApp with the model number and we will name a player that is listed for your set, or suggest the Fire TV Stick route as the fallback.
