Installation, then the guide
Choose the route before you touch the box
A MAG offers one route: the portal, tied to the MAC of that particular box. A Formuler offers three. MyTVOnline 2 or 3 can load the same portal; MyTVOnline can instead sign in with an Xtream Codes login; and because the box runs Android, a player such as TiViMate can sit beside it. If replaying programs that have already aired matters to you, take the Xtream Codes login on a Formuler, since catch-up works most reliably through the Xtream login. If you mostly watch live and want the plainest remote-driven screens, the portal serves well on either box.
Photograph the MAC and send it
Tip the box on its side and find the sticker underneath: the MAC is printed there, and the About device page under Settings shows the same string. On a MAG the first three pairs read 00:1A:79. Send a photo of the label on WhatsApp rather than typing the address out, because one wrong character activates a box that is not yours. Then wait for the reply confirming the portal is switched on; entering the address before that reply only produces an error screen. A Formuler owner taking the Xtream route can skip this step, since that login is not tied to the MAC.
MAG: enter the portal, then restart
On the MAG the portal fields sit four menus deep, under Settings, System settings, Servers and finally Portals. Call Portal 1 anything you will recognize, enter the portal address from our message beside it, and save. Now restart the box. This is the step people skip, and the portal will not load until the box has come back up with the new address in place. After the restart it opens straight into the portal and starts loading the channel list and the guide.
Formuler: add the portal or the login in MyTVOnline
Start MyTVOnline, version 2 or 3, and pick Add Portal. Give it a name and enter the portal address we sent. If you settled on the Xtream route in step one, choose the Xtream Codes option in the same app instead and fill in the server address with its port, the username and the password. Either way MyTVOnline then pulls down the channels and the listings. Across the full line-up that first load takes a few minutes, so leave it running rather than backing out halfway through.
Put the box clock on your time zone
The portal sends every program with its time; the box decides what now means. With the box in the wrong time zone, each listing lands an hour or more early or late and the guide marks the wrong program as on now. Set the time zone in the box's own system settings rather than anywhere inside the portal, pick your city or region, and make sure daylight saving follows it. On a Formuler, the Android date and time settings do the same job.
Learn what the color buttons do
The four color buttons on the remote carry the everyday work on these boxes, the program guide and favorites among it. Which color does which job depends on the portal, and most portals print a small key along the bottom of the screen for the page you are on. Spend two minutes on the channel list pressing each one in turn. Once guide, favorites and back are in your fingers, you stop hunting through menus at 8 pm.
Keep thirty or forty channels in favorites
Paging through 25,000+ channels with a remote is slow on any box. Go through the groups once and add every channel you actually watch to favorites, using the color button the portal gives that job. From then on, open favorites first: the guide for thirty or forty channels fits on a few screens, and changing channel stays quick because the box is not redrawing thousands of rows. Groups you never open can simply stay closed.
Check tonight's listings on the box
Before you call it finished, open the guide from the remote and look down your favorites. Each should show what is on now and what comes next, at times that agree with the clock on the wall. On a Formuler signed in with Xtream Codes, open a channel that keeps an archive and play something that ended earlier in the evening; it should begin at the start, not at live. When the listings are present, the times agree and favorites come up first, the box is ready for everyday use.
Problems we see on this one
The portal loads, but the guide is blank
Allow the first load several minutes; the listings arrive after the channels. If the guide is still blank after a restart, check the date and time on the box. A box that believes it is a different day asks for listings that do not exist yet, or no longer exist, and shows nothing. Correct the clock, restart, and the programs appear.
Every program sits an hour out
The box clock is in the wrong time zone or has missed a daylight saving change. Fix it in the system settings of the box and restart, and the guide slides into place. There is no need to ask for a new portal: the listings are right, the box is simply reading them against the wrong clock.
The box keeps opening an old portal
A MAG can hold more than one portal entry. If it was used with another service before, an older address may still sit in one of those entries and load in place of ours. Open the Portals screen, clear every entry except the Zyminex address, save, and restart the box.
A Formuler plays live channels, but nothing replays
If the box was set up through Add Portal, add the account a second time in MyTVOnline using the Xtream Codes option and open the same channel there, since catch-up works most reliably through the Xtream login. If catch-up is still missing on that channel, the channel does not keep an archive; try one that is marked for catch-up to confirm it.
A replacement box is turned away by the portal
The portal is tied to the MAC of the box that was activated. A new or second box has a different MAC, so the portal refuses it until that MAC is activated as well. Send a photo of the new label on WhatsApp and wait for the confirmation before entering the address.

Why does a MAG need my MAC address and not a password?
Because a MAG does not sign in the way an app does. The portal recognizes the box by its MAC address, so the MAC is what gets activated at our end. That is also why a replacement box needs its own activation, and why a photo of the label beats copying twelve characters out by hand.
Which boxes does this guide cover?

Is a dedicated box worth it over a streaming stick?
On the television you use every evening, usually: a proper remote, a guide one button away, and no apps to sideload or keep updated. Expect to pay roughly $120 to $180 for a MAG or Formuler and $30 to $50 for a stick, which is why the stick remains the sensible choice for a bedroom or spare-room set.
Should a Formuler use MyTVOnline or TiViMate?
Both work. MyTVOnline comes installed and keeps the box feeling like a dedicated receiver; TiViMate gives the fuller grid and, with Premium, recording and multi-view. Whichever you choose, sign in with the Xtream Codes login if catch-up matters, and give it the thirty or forty favorites that make any guide readable.
