Installation, then the guide
Choose the player that will run your evenings
Decide this before installing anything, because the player sets how you find programs every night. IPTV Smarters Pro is free, it is the quickest way to a working picture, and it has a guide. TiViMate is the one to choose if you mean to watch from the grid: channels down the side, tonight laid out from left to right, and the channel you were on still playing in a corner while you browse. Its free version shows that grid. Premium, bought in the TiViMate Companion app on a phone for about $9.99 a year or a one-off lifetime license in the mid-$30s, adds recording, multi-view and multiple playlists, with a seven-day trial first. Whichever you pick, sign in with the Xtream Codes details, not the M3U link: on the stick they deliver the channels, the listings, catch-up and the film library in a single sign-in.
Allow installs from outside Amazon
Out of the box, Fire OS installs only what comes from Amazon's own store. The switch that changes this is Apps from Unknown Sources, found in Developer Options, which sits inside My Fire TV on the Settings menu. Recent Fire OS builds keep that entry out of sight until an app requests it. If you cannot see it, move on: the stick offers the same permission as Install unknown apps, listed against Downloader, when Downloader first needs it. On those builds the permission belongs to one app at a time, which is worth remembering if a download later seems to vanish.
Install Downloader from AFTVnews
Search for Downloader from the home screen. The right result has an orange icon and names AFTVnews as its publisher. Open it once after installing, because that first launch asks for access to storage, and the answer has to be yes. Refuse it and the download in the next step runs to the end, then nothing happens and no message explains why. Downloader carries no channels and plays nothing. It is a small browser whose only job here is to fetch one installer file.
Fetch the player and install it
In Downloader, select the address field and type in the short link we sent on WhatsApp, or the official APK address of the player you chose, then press Go. A mistyped character produces an error page rather than a suggestion, so check the address before blaming the link. When the file arrives the installer opens without being asked: press Install, wait for the confirmation, then press Done. Downloader then offers to delete the APK. Accept. The installer file has done its work, the stick has little storage to spare, and removing the file leaves the app itself untouched.
Open it from Your Apps and Channels
Nothing you sideload appears on the main row of the home screen, which is why so many people decide the install failed. Scroll down to Your Apps and Channels and the new tile is waiting there. Open it. Smarters shows its terms, then a choice of login types; take Login with Xtream Codes API. TiViMate opens on Add playlist; choose Xtream Codes login rather than the M3U option, which would leave you pasting a separate guide address later.
Enter the server, username and password
The login is three values from your activation message. The server URL begins with http:// and ends with a colon and the port number, for example http://server:8080; nothing follows the port. The username and password are case sensitive, so match the capitals. The profile or playlist name is only a label; call it Zyminex, or anything you like. Confirm with Add User in Smarters or Next in TiViMate. If the player rejects the details, type them in by hand once: a space at the end of a pasted value is invisible on screen and enough to fail the sign-in.
Let the first guide download finish
The first sign-in brings three things across: the channel list, the on-demand library and the guide data for every channel, which is the biggest of the three. Let the loading screen clear before you start changing channels, and give the listings a few minutes to fill before deciding anything is missing. Two settings are worth making now. In Smarters, go to Settings, then EPG, and turn on Enable EPG on live TV, so the current program shows while you watch. In TiViMate, open the TV guide section of Settings and set the refresh interval to every 12 hours, so tomorrow's listings arrive without you asking.
Cut 25,000+ channels down to yours
Nobody watches 25,000+ channels. A shortlist of 30 to 40 covers most evenings, and the guide becomes useful the moment it shows only those. In Smarters, keep select held down on any channel and it joins your favorites. In TiViMate, a long press on a channel opens a menu that includes the favorites option, and Settings, then Playlists, is where you switch off whole groups you never open, country by country. Start with the obvious ones: the news you check at 6, the sports networks you follow, a few film channels. On a stick, a shorter list also makes a lighter guide, which you notice as smoother scrolling.
Check tonight's listings, then catch-up
Finish by testing what you will use every evening. Open the guide at the current hour and compare one channel with the real world: if the 7 pm news sits in the 7 pm slot, the time zone is right; if it sits an hour early or late, fix that first, as described below. Scroll along a favorite to 10 pm and make sure there are titles, not blanks. Then find a channel marked with the archive or clock icon, go back along its row to something that ended earlier this evening and play it from the beginning. TiViMate keeps some extras for Premium, so if the free version will not open the archive, test it inside the seven-day trial.
Problems we see on this one
No information across half the guide
Straight after sign-in this is normal: the listings are still arriving. Give it a few minutes, then force an update (in TiViMate, Settings, TV guide, Update now) and restart the player. If a scattered handful of channels stays blank after that, those feeds carry no listings, which is common for event channels. They still play; the gap in the grid is cosmetic. If an entire country group is blank, send us its name on WhatsApp so the guide data for it can be checked.
The whole grid is an hour out
Guide data carries its own time zone, and the player converts it using the stick's clock. So when every channel is an hour early or late, start with the time zone in the Fire TV settings, not with the player: correct the region, restart the stick, reopen the guide. It tends to appear in the week the clocks change. Only if the stick's clock is right and the grid is still an hour off should you use a guide time offset in the player, where it has one, and move it by a single hour.
Catch-up starts in the wrong program
You chose the 9 pm film from the archive and got the closing minutes of the 8 pm news. The guide and the archive disagree about the time, and the usual reason is an offset added in the player to fix the display when the real fault was the stick's clock. Put the player's guide offset back to zero, set the stick's time zone properly, restart, and try again. If one channel still starts early or late while the rest are right, that channel's listings are off at the source; tell us which one.
The guide takes ages to open
A full guide for 25,000+ channels is a lot of data for a stick's memory, and older sticks feel it first. Switch off the groups you never watch so there is less to draw. Then clear the player's cache under Settings, Applications, Manage installed applications, and restart the stick by pulling its power for a few seconds. Check free storage too: a stick that is nearly full slows down everywhere, and the guide is where you notice it first.
Downloader gets the file but nothing installs
Two usual causes. Either Downloader itself was never given the unknown-apps permission, since newer Fire OS grants it per app rather than once for the whole stick, or an older copy of the same player is installed and the installer will not overwrite it. Remove the old copy, confirm the permission, and run the download again. If Downloader shows an error before any file arrives, the address has a typo; enter it again character by character, or ask us on WhatsApp for a mirror link.

Is TiViMate or IPTV Smarters Pro better on a Firestick?
TiViMate, if you intend to find programs through the guide; IPTV Smarters Pro, if you want a free player running tonight. Both are sideloaded through Downloader and both accept the same Xtream login, so starting with one and moving later costs about ten minutes. Can a Fire TV Stick Lite run the full guide?
Yes. Fire OS on the Lite is the same system the dearer sticks run, so these steps work unchanged and the guide loads. Two limits apply. Output stops at 1080p, so the 4K channels reach the screen as HD. And a guide this size is a heavy load for a small stick, so switch off the groups you will never open before you judge its speed. For the main television, the 4K Max is the better choice.
Can my Firestick and my phone use the same login?
Yes, and so can every other screen you own, because installs are unlimited. What the plan counts is streams playing at the same moment. On a one-stream plan both devices stay signed in, and whichever starts playing second is refused. If two people in the house watch at the same time, the two-stream tier covers it, at $25 for a month or $119 for twelve months.
